Mouth-Watering Turkey Stuffing Recipe to Try This Thanksgiving

Updated: Nov 26, 2023

Making turkey stuffing, also known as dressing, is a classic part of holiday meals. Here's a simple recipe for a delicious turkey stuffing:

Turkey Stuffing:

Ingredients:

  • 1 loaf of day-old bread (about 10 cups), cut into cubes

  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter

  • 1 large onion, finely chopped

  • 2-3 celery stalks, finely chopped

  • 2-3 cloves garlic, minced

  • 1-2 teaspoons dried sage

  • 1-2 teaspoons dried thyme

  • 1-2 teaspoons dried rosemary

  • 1-2 teaspoons dried parsley

  • Salt and black pepper to taste

  • 2-3 cups turkey or chicken broth

  • 2 large eggs, beaten (optional, for added richness)

Instructions:

  1. Preheat Oven:

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).

  1. Prepare Bread Cubes:

  • Cut the day-old bread into cubes. If the bread is not already stale, you can spread the cubes on a baking sheet and let them dry out for a few hours or overnight.

  1. Saute Vegetables:

  • In a large skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Add chopped onions, celery, and minced garlic. Cook until the vegetables are softened, about 5-7 minutes.

  1. Add Herbs:

  • Stir in the dried sage, thyme, rosemary, and parsley. Continue to cook for an additional 2-3 minutes, allowing the herbs to release their flavors.

  1. Combine Bread and Vegetables:

  • Place the bread cubes in a large mixing bowl. Pour the sautéed vegetable and herb mixture over the bread cubes.

  1. Season:

  • Season the mixture with salt and black pepper to taste. Toss everything together until the bread cubes are well coated with the vegetable and herb mixture.

  1. Add Broth:

  • Gradually pour the turkey or chicken broth over the bread mixture. Stir well to ensure even absorption. Add enough broth to achieve your desired level of moistness. If you like drier stuffing, use less broth; for moist stuffing, use more.

  1. Optional: Add Beaten Eggs:

  • If you want a richer stuffing, you can add beaten eggs to the mixture. This will help bind the stuffing together.

  1. Transfer to Baking Dish:

  • Transfer the stuffing mixture to a greased baking dish, spreading it out evenly.

  1. Bake:

  • Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil and bake in the preheated oven for 30-40 minutes. Then, remove the foil and bake for an additional 10-15 minutes or until the top is golden brown and crispy.

  1. Serve:

  • Once done, serve the turkey stuffing alongside your roasted turkey or as a side dish for a delicious holiday feast.

Enjoy your homemade turkey stuffing! Feel free to customize the recipe or other ingredients to suit your taste preferences.
